Names of The Surah Al-Fatiha:
There are many Imam finds many names of Surah Fatiha. Imam Suyuti lists more than 25 names of Surah Fatiha. However, there are five main names for this Surah:
- Al Fatiha (“the Opener”)
- Ummul Kitab/Quran (“the Mother of the Quran”)
- Sab’ul Mathani (“Seven repeated [verses]”)
- Al-Shifaa (“the Cure”)
- Al-Hamd (“praise”)

Surah Al-Fatiha in Arabic Text:
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ
صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ
Surah Al-Fatiha English Transliteration:
- Bismillaahi ar-Rahman ar-Raheem
- Al hamdu lillaahi rabbil ‘alameen
- Ar-Rahmani ar-Raheem
- Maaliki yawmid Deen
- Iyyaaka na’budu wa iyyaaka nasta’een
- Ihdinas siraa tal mustaqeem
- Ṣirāṭ al lazi na an ‘amta’ alaihim, Ghairil maghduubi’ alaihim waladaaleen (Aamin)
Surah Al-Fatiha English Translation:
- In the name of God,
- All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds
- The All-compassionate, the All-merciful.
- Master of Day of Judgement
- You[alone] do we worship, and You[alone] do we ask for help
- Guide us to the straight path
- The path of those whom You have favored
- Not of those who earned your anger nor those who have gone astray.

Surah Al-Fatiha Related Hadith:
Hadith #1:
The Prophet (SAW) said: “Do you want to teach me what you like about Surah? Is it not revealed in the Torah, the Injeel, the Zabur or the Quran? “, and also asked what he said in his prayers. He replied Umm-ul-Quran (Surah Fatiha) the Prophet (PBUH) proclaimed: ‘By Him in Whose rule My soul is, nothing like it is revealed in the Torah, the Gospel, the Psalms, or the Quran and this is one of the seven repeated verses in the Mighty One The Quran that was given to me.

Hadith #2:
Abu Hurairah (R.A) reported that the Holy Prophet (s) once said: “Allah, the Glorious and Exalted said, ‘I have divided the prayer equally between myself and my servant and it will be my servant granted what he asked for. “Therefore, when the servant says,” All praise and thanks are due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, “Allah says,” My servant has praised Me. “When he says,” The All-Merciful, Most Merciful, “Allah says,” My servant has praised Me. “When he says,” Master of the Day of Judgment, “Allah says,” My servant has glorified Me.
“When he says,” Only you do we worship and only your help we seek, ‘Allah says,’ this is between me and my servant and my servant will get what he asked for. “When he says,” Lead us to the straight path, the path of them whom You have favored, not [the path] of those who have earned [You’re] wrath, nor of those who have gone astray, “Allah says,” this is for My servant and My servant will get what he asked for. ”

Hadith #3:
Ibn “Abbas reported:” While Jibril was with the Messenger of Allah, he heard a sound from above. Jibril raised his gaze to heaven and said, “This is a door in the celestial being opened, and it has never been opened before. “An angel descended from that door and come to the prophet and said, “Receive the glad tidings of two lights that you have what no other Prophet before you have received: the opening of the book (Al Fatiha) and the last verses of “al-Baqarah.” You will not read a letter from it, except that you will benefit from it. “
