Children are a symbol of tomorrow’s future. They will one day grow up and put a smile on their parents’ faces. They will discover new things by practicing knowledge and science. Their discovery will change the landscape of family and society. Everyone should pray to God for the righteous children of this society to be well educated and take the helm of the family, society, and the state. God is pleased when you pray. The issue of praying for children is also mentioned in the Qur’an. Every prophet-messenger used to supplicate to Allah for the sake of having children.
Dua in Pregnancy for Parents righteous children:
The Qur’an says, “There (standing) Zakariya prayed to his Lord, ‘O my Lord, grant me from You (as a sign of Your bounty) righteous children, surely you will hear (the call of) man’ (Surah Al-Imran: 36). ‘O my Lord grant me, righteous children.’ ‘Then We gave him the glad tidings of a patient son’ (Surah As-Saffat: 100-101).
وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ رَبِّ اجْعَلْ هَٰذَا الْبَلَدَ آمِنًا وَاجْنُبْنِي وَبَنِيَّ أَن نَّعْبُدَ الْأَصْنَامَ
English Transliteration: “Wa iz qaala Ibraaheemu Rabbij ‘al haazal balada aaminanw waojnubnee wabaniyya an na’budal asnaam.”
English translation: When Ibrahim prayed to Allah, ‘O my Lord, make this (Mecca) a city of safety and keep me away from worshiping idols of my children’ (Surah Ibrahim: 35).
Every child is blessed by Allah with his parents. God-given blessings should be given to the child to grow up properly and beautifully. If children do not grow up properly, it can be detrimental to the family in the future. Sometimes a child has to be humiliated by his parents for the wrongdoing.
It has been said in the Qur’an, ‘O you who believe, some of your spouses and children are your enemies. So beware of them and if you pardon, then turn away and forgive. But Allah is often Forgiving, Most Merciful ‘(Surah Tagabun: 13-14).
Praying for children is the circumcision of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to pray for the children himself and tell others to pray for the children. Narrated from Hazrat Ayesha (RA): She said that small children were brought to Hazrat Rasul (SAW). He used to pray for their welfare (Bukhari-Muslim: 5915).
Children should be blessed with lessons from the ideals of the Prophet. Nowadays many children are involved in various social crimes. Some of us are using children to carry drugs. To ensure a bright future, children need to be turned away from the path of deviance. They have to pray for their well-being.
رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ
English Transliteration: “Rabbij alnee muqeemas Salaati wamin zurriyyatee Rabbanaa wa taqabbal du’aaa.”
English translation: In the Qur’an, Ershad has said, ‘O my Lord, make me one who establishes the prayer and also from among my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my prayer ‘(Surah Ibrahim: 40).
وَالَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
English Transliteration: “Wallazeena yaqooloona Rabbanaa hab lanaa min azwaajinaa wa zurriyaatinaa qurrata a’yuninw waj ‘alnaa lilmuttaqeena Imaamaa.”
English translation: ‘My Lord, grant us from our wives and children the comfort of our eyes and the peace of our souls and make us a model for the righteous’ (Surah Furqan: 74).
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) prayed for the welfare of children. So we will also pray for the bright future of the children. May Allah bless every child in this world and in the hereafter.
